Description

Dust jacket notes: "Guilt! That's the only reason I restored my first '59 Studebaker coupe. I must be the only man in America who has restored a Studebaker because of guilt. Here's what happened. A teenage buddy of mine and I were racing our cars one night back in 1954. He had a Ford V-8 and I was driving my dad's '53 Studebaker Champion Starliner hardtop. In the race, my buddy won. Not only was he ahead but I missed a sharp turn and went broadside into a telephone pole. No, I wasn't hurt, much, but I always felt really guilty about wrecking that beautiful '53 coupe. Years later, when I could afford it, I bought a beat-up old '53 Starliner and carefully restored it to showroom condition. My dad had been dead many years so he never saw the car, but somehow I felt better anyway. The '53 Studebaker coupe was and is a lovely car. It looked great in '53, it looks even better today. Even though it has won more design honors than any other car of its era, it is largely unappreciated by most collectors. In this writer's opinion, this is a grave oversight, and certainly a temporary one. My advice is 'get'um while you can. Read this book and learn how and why...."
