Market Forecast Report: The European Online Population Through 2008

This European market forecast report comprises Jupiter Research's most recent online population projections, analyzing growth in the number of online users, online households, and broadband penetration in Western Europe through 2008. Jupiter Research forecasts that the number of European Internet users will reach 212 million by 2008, up from 142 million users in 2002. At the end of 2008 the disparities in Internet household penetration rates between the more technologically sophisticated Nordic countries (e.g., Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland) and the rest of Europe will have narrowed compared with 2002. The average penetration rates for the three key regions (i.e., Nordic Europe, northern Europe, and southern Europe) will vary by just 15 percent in 2008 compared with a variation of 25 percent in 2002. Broadband will be a key growth driver for the online population, and broadband households will account for the majority (52 percent) of online households by 2008.
