Description

This IDC study examines the 2007 vendor market share on a worldwide basis for the Bluetooth semiconductor industry. The Bluetooth semiconductor market grew by 15.6% to $1.7 billion, while unit shipments increased by 58% to 975 million units. Demand for Bluetooth in 2007 was primarily driven by the mobile handset and headset markets, but the technology is increasingly finding a place in noncellular segments.

"Bluetooth technology found its initial niche in voice applications for wireless connectivity with mobile phones. The Bluetooth semiconductor market has grown ninefold since 2002 and is now beginning to find niches in other segments such as gaming, automotive, and PCs. We expect growth to accelerate with wider adoption of the hands-free legislation and as the technology moves beyond traditional voice applications." - Ajit Deosthali, IDC research manager, Short Range Wireless Semiconductors This book may contain less than 24 pages of technical content.
