The Bob Hope Desert Classic was a 90-hole, five day golf tournament for professionals, played on the Bermuda Dunes, Eldorado, Indian Wells and La Quinta Country Clubs championship courses, February 2-6, 1966.

Played concurrently with this event during its first 72 holes was a pro-amateur best ball of foursome test with one professional and three amateurs teamed. The amateur trio stayed together and played with a different professional each day on a different course.

The total purse was $100,000.
