Description

This IDC study assesses end-user buying patterns and the pertaining opportunities and challenges for IT service providers (SPs) in the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ region. Based on the annual end-user survey that was conducted by IDC's AP IT services team across 10 markets and five industry verticals, the study analyzes and critiques prevailing investment trends for IT services, end users' buying patterns, and their perception on IT services' vendors. Several key points of this report include: the selection criteria for partnering with IT SPs; how vendors are rated by end users; how end users approach global delivery and their openness to partnering with third party vendors; and which types of vendors are preferred by end users.

"Businesses in the APEJ region have a marked preference for dealing with local IT and telecom SPs with vendor credibility, delivery capabilities, and pricing as the three most important criteria for selection. IDC expects IT services firms that have strong technology practices to begin garnering a larger market share of the overall consulting. SPs that have strong consulting and professional services capabilities with the right balance of local flavor and global delivery will lead the market," says Mayur Sahni, senior market analyst for IT Services, IDC Asia/Pacific
