EDWARD PHILLIPS OPPENHEIM [1866-1946] was an English writer noted for his espionage, suspense, and thriller novels. His image was the cover for the September 12, 1927 issue of Time magazine. Characterized as the "Prince of Storytellers", he published more than 150 books. He inspired such other writers of spy novels as John Buchan, author of The Thirty-nine Steps. Many consider The Great Impersonation (1920) to be his best novel.
