From the author: Despite discussions on productivity in wood machining, there are no reports concerning the utilization of numerical methods for optimizing the technology of furniture manufacture. At the same time, from the point of view of industrial practice, it is essential to develop algorithms based on expert knowledge or optimization methods which would allow the determination of rational processing parameters. The purpose of this study was to develop a mathematical model and a computer program for the optimization of a selected fragment of the technological process in a furniture factory. As the subject of optimization, the process of pretreatment of solid wood elements which leads to obtaining four-side planed strips from dry deciduous wood was chosen. On the basis of the mathematical model, a C++ computer program was prepared using the Monte Carlo optimization method. Optimization was performed for exemplary input data. The above mathematical model and computer program allowed determination of optimal feed parameters which lead to the minimization of electrical energy consumption and reduction or indication of potential possibilities of reduction of the operation processing times.
