Description

This IDC study provides an overall view of the decision-making process among six different enterprises on different open source software. It is expected to help vendors better understand users' concerns and drivers in order to develop business strategies to capture opportunities from the market buzz. For users, this document will provide details on the evaluations and purchase-decision-making process from their peers. This study can be a good reference for enterprises that are considering open source option.

"Organizations have started to evaluate open source as a viable alternative as they are trying to find ways to reduce their operational expenses. Indonesia has a high percentage of respondents that plan to deploy new open source customer relationship management (CRM) applications (34.5%) over the next 18 months," says Ridhi Sawhney, market analyst, Asia/Pacific Enterprise Applications Research at IDC. "One of the chief fears of end-user organizations is the perceived lack of internal and external skills to support the shift toward the use of an open source strategy. Hardware or software support services have the highest mean indicating the likelihood of organizations going for this service over the next 18 months."
