This IDC study offers a commentary on the relational database management systems (RDBMS) market in 2009 and provides data and analysis regarding license revenue for the top 10 vendors in 2008, with breakdowns by vendor and by vendor within operating environment.
"The relational database management systems market was growing robustly in 2008, with a solid double-digit growth rate until the fourth quarter, when the market tanked, leaving an overall growth rate in low double digits, and just 9% license growth," says Carl Olofson, research vice president for Database Management and Data Integration Software research at IDC. "Now is the time for RDBMS vendors to arm themselves for the recovery, and for the new database landscape they are likely to encounter when it occurs."
