If the Marquis de Sade had submitted this to us (from prison) in 1791 we would have rejected it, because it is pure sadism, as is to be expected of the original sadist. even though it is wrapped up in philiosophy. However the full version is now freely available. Even so, we have omitted the actual ages of juveniles.

de Sade uses his narrative to present his philosophy. This, and the constant repetition and the obscurity of some passages, makes it a very difficult read. Here is an honest effort to cut through all this whilst making his philosophical points clear.
