This book contains approximately 130 original and collected poems, as well as a how-to create poetry section in most chapters. Each chapter also has a small section for the reader to write his or her own poetry. It contains short biographies of 17 famous poets from history, including the 20th century.
The book also has a number of poems from children and students from Newark, NJ, as well as other places in NJ and the world. Some of the poems highlight schools, children and youth, as well as such as issues as the plight of child labor, abortion and life (The Story of Three Embryos), concentration camps, including one poem from the children of one infamous camp, violence, and lighter themes such as Chemical Romance, My Best Friend and Electric Streets (of Newark, New Jersey).
The first chapter has 26 poems of India, SriLanka, Bangladesh, North Africa, China and other exotic places. This section of the book is designed to engage the reader in adventerous travel. The book was created to help people to develop an interest in poetry and to get a basic understanding of the structure and process of creating poetry. It was created for adults and the thoughtful teen. The book also promotes tolerance.
