The Original Major Odu Ifa. Ile Ife (Vol. 1)

This work is a compilation of the major sixteen Odus of Ifa and some of their stories. They are from different sources including magazines published and unpublished, Ifa books and also oral recitations. Much thanks to Awotunde Aworeni for the input of the oral recitations and a lot of the manuscripts. This book would have not been possible without his input. The position of the Odus is the original position from Ile Ife as followed in William Bascom Ifa Divination book published in 1969. Because Ifa has been strictly oral teachings for many years until recently, the Odus are still kept in oral forms. Awotunde Aworeni and I worked on a lot of the oral recitations and I did all of the translations. There are many more stories of the Odu of Ifa that may not be covered in this book. There is no one book that can possibly cover all the stories in the Odu Ifa. As I have said before no one know it all. Ifa is what our ancestors call "Amo motan". Ifa is something that one can never know all of its knowledge. Eyi o mo emi ko mo - What you know I may not know - Eyi momo iwo ko mo What I know you may not know.
