Review of BETWEEN THE ASSASSINATIONS by Aravind Adiga (Books Reviewed by Georganna Hancock Book 6)

Aravind Adiga's second offering is a collection of interrelated stories about the characters (and they are characters, some of them) in the fictional town of Kittur. The book is also a pseudo tour guide with maps, chronology and similar travelers' information. This straightforward presentation is an amusing framework for stories of the ugly underbelly of poor, small-town life on the southwestern Indian coast.

BETWEEN THE ASSASSINATIONS stories were first published in 2008, the same year the author won the Man Booker Prize for his debut novel, THE WHITE TIGER. The Indian-born Adiga attended Columbia and Oxford universities.
