Description

This book is about Composer Surface 2012 v3.7, v1.0, v2.0, v2.01, v2.02, v2.03, v2.04, v2.05, v2.06 and Composer Surface Envelope Shaper, which are included free inside. Composer Surface is a music notation and a composition tool for Windows. It is fully programmable and uniquely allows you to add samples of your own instrument or voice (using studio quality recordings where the quality is better than MP3, audio CD and all other audio distribution media). You can also shape the synthesizer envelopes using the Code Lexicon Envelope Shaper. It also allows you to add your own graphics and music notation type style. Composer Surface is operated entirely using a mouse or preferably a touchscreen. It has no dialogs, and all music notation is provided on screen. It offers sound synthesis and wave audio samples of guitar, cello and violin. It is able to change key in the stave simply by dropping the selected key at an appropriate point. So you can include as many key changes as required. This first version of Composer Surface is finely tuned for monophonic compositions. However an additional two layers are provided to add more notes. Polyphonic playback can be achieved by opening more than one copy of Composer Surface, where playback is synchronized automatically. Composer Surface uses a new Code Lexicon file format that encodes all entered music, and compresses the information into compact files for easy storage. Music is composed and entered using a single treble clef stave, and (animated) playback occurs over the same single stave. Controls are provided for overall tempo, volume and for a default instrument. The volume of individual notes can be altered, as well as the individual note's instrument. Purchasers of Composer Surface become registered users and are entitled to low-cost upgrades to future new builds of Composer Surface, and they also receive free unlimited product support as well as free code lexicon Plug In (Modules) for Composer Surface. A family of Plug In modules is being developed, and these will be compatible with existing Composer Surface encoding/compression file format. The first Plug In modules will include additional instruments.
