Intranets: The Hidden Face of the Web

Intranets (secure private computer networks based on Internet technology for the internal use of organizations), though arguably significant in terms of the amount of traffic they carry and the communications functions they provide, are accorded relatively little fanfare compared to the high-profile public Internet. The historical reasons for this neglect are briefly discussed, along with ways to learn more about intranets.
