Description ▲
Complete in two volumes, Sadopaideia is a fictional flagellant memoir in which Cecil Prendergast, a young Oxford scholar, describes his initiation into the delights of the rod at the hands of a beautiful widow, Mrs. Harcourt, and his shift from the pleasures of submission to the joys of mastery. Sadopaideia was first published clandestinely, c. 1907, possibly in Paris. The authorship has been attributed to John Poole Kirkwood but is uncertain.
