Little Prissy, T.C. and their friends in the farrowing barn feel totally helpless to do anything when they learn from Mama and Papa that Piston, the neighbor's troublesome burro, has been stolen from a truck stop in Boise, Idaho, while en route to Montana.

The burro falls into the worst kind of luck, Stolen by one, Victor Rossi, who travels with a carnival company, Piston is overworked, beaten and underfed.

The carnival, Piston included, moved from Spokane to Seattle, to Portland, Oregon and on down to Salem to the Oregon State Fair.

Mama and Papa always take all the grandkids to the State Fair. It's tradition! Though the burro is dirty and thin, he is recognized by one of the kids.

Again, this author is successful in gaining your attention early on, she will pleasantly entertain you as she unravels the tender details to accomplish a happy ending for all concerned.
