One Big Loop Around A Great Big Country
The story of a solo motorcycle trip across the U.S.A. and back in the summer of 2010. The author covered 14,390 miles across 37 states in 49 days of riding on a Suzuki V-Strom 650. One Time Around is a travelogue of the journey, with a fair amount of wandering from the subject as the writer wanders around the countryside. Good reading for anyone who ever dreamed of riding a motorcycle across the country, and taking the most roundabout way possible!
Paul Clipper is a former editor on the staff of Dirt Bike magazine, and was publisher/editor of Trail Rider magazine for 24 years. He has extensive experience with off-road motorcycling and racing, but he admits to spending more time on street bikes after retiring from Trail Rider. "I always wanted to know what it was like to cross the country on a motorcycle," he said, "and though it would be expected of me to try it on a dirt bike, doing the whole country on knobbies just seemed to me a little impractical, and besides, I had seen a lot of dirt in my time. This time I wanted to see a big chunk of the country from the asphalt side, and it turned out to be a lot of fun."
Along with the 55,000 or so words, One Time Around is illustrated with nearly 40 photos from the trip.
