But a well-intended action can have unintended consequences, and the bacteria creates a disaster no one could have foreseen.

Cotton Chastain, who has the Second Sight, hears about the explosion in the Gulf and heads for Louisiana to make sure his brother, who works on the platform, is safe. But he comes to an exit on the interstate that leads to the Florida beaches. And a premonition of danger makes him forget his original plans and leads him to the beach.
