This IDC study presents an analysis of the relational database management systems (RDBMS) market, consisting of vendor shares for 2008–2010 and a market forecast for 2011–2015.
"The RDBMS market grew strongly, driven by the rise of the database appliance model and the desire to gain intelligence from information shared on the social web," said Kourosh Ghassemi, research director, IDC European Software. "The RDBMS market continues to show signs of positive growth for the next five years with a CAGR of 7.2% between 2010 and 2015, driven by a combination of growth of data in the enterprise, a desire for specialized database engines to serve various workloads, and increasing investment in business analytics."
