MY PINK MIRROR was written many years ago at a time when gender roles were much more rigid. Women were not allowed in many places without a dress and high heels (plus a proper girdle). For men, only white shirts and skin were allowed in some major corporations.
Women were only secretaries or waitresses and were expected to wear their skirts and pointy-toed high heels and be happy. The young men in this story are only subject to the same social pressures and training that the women of that time endured…. (and still somewhat do.)
