Mike Cousins, newly redundant college teacher, finds himself staring down an ever-narrowing cul-de-sac of personal catastrophe. He is unemployed, short of money and precariously close to becoming homeless too when his relationship with the glacial Ingrid comes to a sudden end.
Mike’s need for advice turns up only Conrad Edmondson. Down-at-heel lawyer, best friend and fellow casualty of life.
As the hapless pair sink into a deepening pit of depression, salvation appears in the form of local entrepreneur, Bertram Mottram. Bertram is blessed with a wide-ranging business portfolio, a nymphomaniac wife and a plan to purchase crumbling mansion, Threpton Hall, and turn it into a swish hotel and conference centre.
Unfortunately Threpton District Council have other ideas.
Bertram need to have his interests represented by people of intellect, intelligence and integrity. He cannot find any so Mike and Conrad get the job. Ahead of the Curve is their story – a story of intrigue, sexual adventure and, above all, total incompetence.
(Rude, crude and unashamedly vulgar, Ahead of the Curve, is very definitely not recommended reading for those easily offended by strong language and explicit sexual references and imagery.)
