§ Macke studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and the School of Applied Arts from 1904 to 1906.
§ In 1907, he went to Berlin to study under Lovis Corinth.
§ In 1911, Macke was a founding member of Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) group of artists. It’s members included Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Marianne von Werefkin, Alexej von Jawlensky and Gabriele Münter.
§ On September 26, 1914, Macke died as a soldier at the German front in Champagne, France. He was only 27 yrs old.
