Al-Ghazzali discusses the conditions for the pilgrimage being obligatory, its essentials, obligations, types and restrictions. He includes the manner of performing the pilgrimage, rules of conduct and provisions for the journey, the manner of entrance into Makkah, the rules of circumambulation, how to perform the search or running between Safa and Marwa, standing in Arafah and the rest of the rituals of the pilgrimage. There is also a section on the visit to Madinah as well as the inner aspects of the pilgrimage.
