The Schaffner Players

Author, Michael Kramme, leads the reader on a trail of historical nonfiction involving one repertoire theater troupe, “The Schaffner Players”. Most of the performances were in or near Southeastern Iowa when small towns dotted the rural setting. With travel daily, “Tenting” was integral in the vaudevillian-style entertainment. The Schaffner Players were known and respected for family friendly humor.
This book is an enjoyable, easy read. It is appealing if you are a student of the performing arts and entertainment, or inquisitive about the eras of boon or bust of the Americana social culture of the early twentieth century in the Midwestern United States. It’s simply, the human side of history. Enjoy!
