There are many little gems in this collection in which poet Paul Grenert deals with the dilemma of turning thirty. There is a savagery in these poems. In sometimes menacing language—mostly quirky haiku—anguish and grief are expressed. But the spirit remains strong, with a terse wit. These poems are full of humanity and soul in the face of darkness. A variety of poetic styles and voices are employed to convey ideas. Some themes have been revisited: the future and death. This is the third collection tracking a poet’s descent into the depths and his spiritual recovery.
