I began to write this book out of bitterness. I was bitter at all the hard work and failure I have endured in my life, but as I progressed through my book I began to realise how many experiences I could share with others. This is largely an account of an ordinary man searching for a place in life and trying to find out just who he is.
Much of what I did was borne mainly out of fear of failure. This was to lead me into all sorts of adventures and situations that I could not cope with, let alone have the ability to carry out with any competence. From cleaning toilets to dicing with death as Royal Naval Aircrew, Merchant Seaman to Psychiatric Nurse and even a window cleaner, a life lived to the full, I regret none of it. This led to many humorous and some dangerous situations, many of which I sought to escape by Running For Home.
Come with me on an adventure you will never forget, written with honesty and sincerity if this book helps anyone to come to terms with their lot in life, then I shall be satisfied that I have succeeded in my quest.
"Loved this book - it was a real treat to read. I enjoyed the honesty of a man not afraid to say that he was afraid. He conquered the fear and that's bravery?"
This review is from: RUNNING FOR HOME: The Autobiography of Christopher Dawber (Kindle Edition)
Congratulations Christopher; your easy colloquial style, coupled with the anticipation contained within the narrative, is both compelling and disarming. You have created just the right mix of warmth and adventure in this extremely interesting account of your life. It maybe a cliche, but really it was difficult to close the kindle at the end of each reading session. Not technical incompetence, on my part, but just the sheer pleasure from reading the account of your life in such an engaging way. Thanks for the opportunity to share it with you.
