Lifesaving (Merit Badge series)

BRAND NEW.There is no substitute for practicing lifesaving techniques that may indeed save a life someday. No Boy Scout will ignore a plea for help. However, the desire to help is of little use unless one knows how to give the proper aid. The main objectives of the Lifesaving merit badge are to prepare Scouts to assist those involved in water accidents by teaching them the basic knowledge of rescue techniques, the skills to perform them, and the judgment to know when and how to act so that they can be prepared for emergencies. Successfully completing this first-responder activity merit badge is one of the requirements to earn the rank of Eagle Scout; the other eligible option for completion of this badge is Emergency Preparedness (only one of these two first-responder badges must be completed to earn the rank of Eagle Scout).
