This novel is a mystery, a love story, which chronicles a chilling fight for survival and a fascinating piece of US history known only to a few.
The mysterious death of two miners prompts his editor to send San Francisco reporter Jesse Grayson by coastal schooner and pack mule train to the Tubal Cain Copper Mine located deep within the Olympic Mountains of Washington State. Jesse travels with Sarge Hornsby's pack train from the town of Quilcene to the mine in Copper City, a grueling two-day trek in 1906.
Four people traveling with Jesse figure prominently in the saga: Jim Albright, Jefferson County Sheriff; Spencer Clayborne, a ruthless tradesman and trafficer in prostitution; Charlie Francis, an Indian trail hand with a secret mission; and Honiko Yamada, a young woman sold into slavery.
This edition also contains excerpts from the sequal to Tubal Cain, Crescent Gold and a chapter from Burton'e newest novel, Cancelled By Blood, due to be released soon.
