An act of terrorism leaves half the world's population dead and a strange discovery is made. An alien race monitors the death toll, but they can do little to aid humanity. An Australian navy commander is part of the aid effort in south-east Asia, before he leaves and begins a new civilian career. A covert meeting in a remote star system goes horribly wrong, and Captain Narindestat needs to find a place of safety for his ship and crew, even as his crew fight for their lives in the depths of space…..
