This reference is recommended for a superintendent that has already worked on a project as a superintendent or as a project engineer. It is a basic list of the minimum items a superintendent will need to get a project out of the ground. We realize there are as many ideas as there are projects and each project has its own variables. You can and will add your own particular notes to these items and that’s as it should be. Every day you should learn something new and add it to your future projects.
The items listed here will cover most projects from a tenant improvement in a strip mall to a multiple building project. Generally speaking whether the job is small or large the logistics are about the same. Obviously the bigger projects require more supervision and that supervision requirement should be addressed as part of the start up process. In many cases the supervision was already predetermined during the bidding phase of the project and it should be reflected in your budget.
It is recommended that for a multiple building project that you run each building as a separate entity. You will schedule each building separately and depending on your schedule you will run the schedule consecutively from building to building, or if your constraints don’t allow that and you have to run them con-current you still have the same check list to cover.
