Power MOSFET

Power MOSFETs technology has grown exponentially over last five years. Today you have many FET devices to choose from for your switching applications. In this book I have focused on basic understanding of Power MOSFETs, how to read their datasheets, selecting FETs for your application, where to find information on internet and all that you need to know about FETs.
Motivation for writing this book comes from my experience with regard to selecting correct FETs for power electronic application and how complex this seemingly simple task has become. The book is written for amateur engineers who want to learn from scratch about Power FETs and also for experts to find required information faster. Experts may find this book as good reference.
The first chapter introduces the Power FET as a switching device and the possible switching region in which it shall be applied. In second chapter the meanings of different terminologies used to describe the device are explained. The third chapter explains how to read the datasheet of the MOSFET. The fourth chapter gives list of MOSFET manufacturers and the internet links of the same. The fifth chapter gives the links to literature available on the internet about FETs. The sixth chapter gives an algorithm to select appropriate FET for your application. The seventh chapter briefs about gate drivers used to switch the FETs and also gives internet links to the datasheets of the same.
Appendix A gives internet links of the possible online vendors from whom you can buy the FETs. Appendix B gives internet links where the package details for the FETs can be found. Appendix C explains testing of the FET.
