Pre-proposal for a Research Project

Research Paradigm
The research paradigm Post-Positivism and Pragmatist are the lens through which the study will be viewed. The research will try to understand and describe reality as accurately as possible and generate practical outcomes consistent with the experimental results.
Statement of the Problem
Colleges and universities place emphasis on student retention, and financial advising positively intervenes to reduce dropout. It is unknown if using financial aid department improves student retention at SLC College. Some studies show a positive relationship between retention and quality of advising: others have failed to discover an association. (Creswell, 2006, p106)
