BWAR was founded in 2007 as a small network of foster homes who rescued dogs from shelters that still use the gas chamber in GA to euthanize pets. When we realized that our very own community had a crisis of too many animals and not enough people adopting, we decided to focus our efforts on helping animals in our own community. We started off as a dog only rescue but when we opened our shelter in June of 2009, we were able to rescue cats and kittens too. Denise Bitz Executive Director
