Ro

Maria, a novice about to take her final vows, wakes up in the middle of the night. She is ravished by an overwhelming force. The next morning, realizing that she is pregnant, she runs from the convent. A defrocked priest, Father, gives her shelter. Maria dies after she gives birth to a girl she names, Ro. The priest raises the girl. Eventually, Ro leaves the priest. She finds love with Sophie, but leaves her, too, to go into prostitution. She ends up disillusioned. She joins The Wayfarer and Mother for a life of poverty. She ends up alone and destitute. In the depths of her despair she experiences an intense awareness and goes on a journey of a modern day Messiah.
