But afterwards, perhaps while reflecting on the deep interest she had awakened in the bosom of her own child in the great and gracious truths of theW ord of God, in obedience to the promptings of a love for souls, a love that refused to be circumscribed by the narrow limits of her own household, she concluded to send it forth in its present form, believing that any effort, however imperfect, to make the Holy Scriptures interesting to the young, God would be pleased to accompany and bless with his own Holy Spirit. The work in language is especially suited to the youthful mind; and in matter is well calculated to arrest thought, impart instruction, produce conviction, and lead to Christ; and our prayer is that it may accomplish all this; That the little messenger may forth to the world away And many little folks lead of theB ook of books to say, Precious treasure by our Heavenly Father given, Brightly beams thy light to guide us home to heaven.
