Audio-Digest Psychiatry is specifically designed to provide the participant with useful and up-to-date information on accurate diagnosis and appropriate management in all types of psychiatric disorders, including, but not limited to:

Anxiety disorders
Dementia, delirium, amnesia, and other cognitive disorders
Geriatric psychiatry
Mental disorders in childhood and adolescence
Mood disorders
Multiaxial illnesses
Personality disorders
Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders
Sexual disorders and paraphilias
Sleep disorders
Substance-related disorders

Educational Objectives
The goals of this program are to improve diagnosis of neuropsychiatric illness through use of neuropsychologic testing (NT) and to improve treatment of substance dependence with adjunctive medications. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:

1. Describe components of the NT process.
2. Recognize appropriate causes for a neuropsychologic referral.
3. Choose brief and effective tools for evaluation of mental status.
4. Manage symptoms of withdrawal in patients with substance dependence.
5. Provide medications that help prevent cravings and relapses in patients attempting to abstain from substances.
