Evaluate the patient who complains of a symptom that has no apparent medical cause.

Implement strategies for managing the behaviors related to somatization.

Screen patients for major depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

Summarize the major principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Recognize those patients with depression or anxiety who would benefit from CBT.
