Description

Warned Off
From Champion Jockey at 22 to down-and-out at 27, Eddie Malloy is bitter and desolate, reduced to living in an ancient caravan working for a tyrannical horse dealer. Estranged from his family and the sport he loves, Eddie cannot forget or forgive the racing authorities for believing false allegations of horse doping against him which robbed him of his riding licence.

With another miserable Christmas looming, Eddie’s discovery of murder victim Danny Gordon in the racing capital of Newmarket offers him a perilous path to the resurrection of his career. He must balance that ultimate reward against the risk of becoming a victim of Gordon’s ruthless killers.

Written by ex-top jockey and BBC commentator Richard Pitman and racing journalist Joe McNally, Warned Off is the first in an ever-growing Eddie Malloy series of mystery crime thrillers.

REVIEWS:

‘It’s a racing certainty that Warned Off will offer a challenge to Dick Francis. It’s packed with authentic dialogue and characters.’ Today Newspaper

‘A very professional racing thriller ... lots of rough stuff, plenty of racing background and action all mixed up with a love interest combine to provide a fast-moving story.’ Publishing News

‘The plot is from the racing stockpot ... fast and violent.’ The Times

To start yes it's similar to Dick Francis ( impossible not to compare them ) and yes honestly it's as good ( I like the Dick Francis books quite a lot ). Characters are well written and engaging, action realistic and well thought out with a nice balance between horse and human events. It's worth a read and it is enjoyable AMAZON REVIEWER

This is a first-rate thriller set in the world of horse racing, but even someone like me who knows nothing about horse racing (or horses, really, except for which end kicks and which end bites) will be sucked in from the first page. THRILLER AUTHOR, Jan Strnad

Captures your attention in the first chapter and holds it the whole way through. Written in the spirit and with the talent of Dick Francis. If you are a fan of Mr. Francis you will not be disappointed STEVEN BROGDON

Long before I was half way through, could not put it downI am a huge Dick Francis fan but found this book to be just as entertaining. I can't wait to read the next Malloy book. DOT GODIN

If you loved Dick Francis novels, you will love these books. The genre is the same and the authors are every bit as good (apologies to Mr. Francis). This book grabs you and won't let you go 'til the last page. So glad to have discovered the Eddie Malloy series. JEANNE CAMPBELL
