When Will Turner arrives in England in the summer of 1914, flying was still seen as a hobby for the rich sportsman and a new spectacle for the public. Very few of the pioneers appear to have been farsighted enough to grasp the commercial potential of aviation. The military, however, despite reservations from the traditionalists, were quick to grab the potential for observation of the enemy. Will, an American aviator from Florida visiting relatives in England, joins the Royal Flying Corps (through a loophole, of sorts) and his adventures and perils begin! Will Turner's leadership, piloting skills, and bravery are put to the test for the first time as he, and England, enter World War One.
