Description

The primary object of this thesis was to design and construct an auto-traction dynamometer in connection with a horse power meter, to be used in the testing of automobiles. This horse --iower meter was so designed as to be able to measure the horse power delivered to the rear vheels direct. Thus, knowing the horse power of the engine, the loss in the various parts of the transmission are evidenced. Tirie did not permit of the entire construction of the horse power meter, hence the actual testinp, uust be left to a member of next years class. The thesis is divided into three parts. First: The Description of the A pparatus. Second: The Design and Construction. Third: AT est with the A foresaid A pparatus. In Part 1is given the description of the automobile, the dynamometer and the general layout of the apparatus.
