Calls of Eastern Vagrants

This CD includes the calls of 68 species or forms, most of which are of Asiatic origin. The accompanying leaflet includes information on the vocalization type, region, country, month and year of the recording and the recorder. Background species are referred to in cases where they are of interest from an identification point of view. Identification tips are also given keeping in mind the separation from the most similar species, while highlighting some of the characteristic features of the calls. For a large section of the European birding community, the quest for rare birds rates is the most exciting and central aspect of their hobby. In spite of the enormous attention devoted to rare birds and their identification, surprisingly little audio material covering the vocalizations of eastern vagrants has been published up to now. This is all the more surprising when one considers the important role played by vocalizations in the finding and identification of birds. This sound collection will help to fill the gap.
