Decoding the Love Chapter

Paul told the Corinthians to strive with zeal for the "best gifts." He then said he was going to show them a "better way."

Question: A better way to do what?

Answer: A better way (than zeal) to get the better gifts.

He was in no way suggesting that there was something better than seeking spiritual manifestations. He was only stating that there was a better way than zeal to get the best ones to manifest. Of course chapter 13 follows with the better way to get the best gifts to manifest: love driven compassion, or "charity."

So Paul is not saying love is better than the gifts... he is saying that love is the better WAY to get the best gifts to manifest.
