The Gospel of John is a powerful description of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. From the height of his popularity to the depths of despair, John paints a picture of a Messiah who was anything but low key.

Jesus forced people to make a decision. In our day, Jesus tends to be known as a peaceful leader and a unifier of people. However, as the Bible shows us, Jesus caused division. Those who met him or benefited from his ministry were unable to walk away without making a choice: should I believe in him as the Messiah or not. There was no middle ground.

This is exactly the story that the Apostle John sought to tell by writing his gospel story. The possible number of stories that could be told about Jesus were nearly endless. But John had to select a small few...and make every one count. And this is exactly what he did. The Gospel of John is a story beautifully crafted to encourage its readers to make a choice of their own: Do I believe in Jesus as my Messiah...or not.

The following book is a collection of sermons written and preached by Pastor Ben Johnson over a couple of years at his church in Oostburg, Wisconsin. They are his attempt to help a very real group of people understand and love the Jesus they live to serve. Some parts of the sermons refer to events in Pastor Ben's life and life in a small town. This is because he tried to leave these sermons as “real to life” as possible.
