Description

Two short stories on a similar theme. One man, one woman, ensnared by evil that is either within them or, perhaps, from somewhere else? I’ll let you decide.

The idea of the Crack came from a strange experience of my own, which is entirely true. I used to work nights as an engineer in The Post Office in Liverpool. Often, when driving home tired after a long shift, I would experience a loud explosion – as if I’d crashed into another vehicle but it was a creation of my own mind. Every time it happened it shocked me and was so, so real.

Eventually I did crash on the way home in the early morning when the driver in front of me suddenly braked (deciding not to shoot an amber traffic light). I was not wearing a seat belt and my head hit the windscreen as I braked too late. This time the explosion in my head was real; it was the last time it happened.
The appearance of ‘the crack’ in the first story is akin to my ‘explosion’.

In Dev Eleven the main character is Susan. She is recently divorced and lonely and so is experimenting with chat-rooms on the Internet. You can never be sure who you are talking to in the Internet!

By the end of these to horrific tales you will definitely have red eyes!
