Description

Color pigments may be grouped in serveral different ways for the mpurpose of discussion. Perhaps the most obvious and common classification is by color. In this series grouping is first by chemical type (inorganic or organic), next by origin (natural or synthetic). and finally by color. There is a deviation from this plan in that both the natural and synthetic iron oxides pigments are treated in Section II, Iron Oxide and Earth Pigments. The rather obvious reason for this is that the synthetic iron oxides are more closely related to the natural iron oxides than to the pigments covered in Section III. This unit will deal with inorganic color pigments of both the natural and Synthetic types.
