LAPD Detective Jack Middleton has as many dark secrets as LA itself. On the verge of forced retirement, he discovers a pregnant Hollywood starlet and her guests butchered in her Bel Air home. Finding Helter Sketler scrawled in blood across the walls, he has to face what he has tried so hard to ignore: the 60s.

Convinced The Beatles’ White Album hides clues, Jack is led into 1969’s underworld of Black Panthers, Hell’s Angels and psychedelic sexed-up rockers. He enlists the help of a young black Narcotics officer, the volatile Delware Hicks.

Jack, the ardent conservative, and Delware, who verges on black militancy, meet in a cultural showdown between black and white, right and wrong; at a cultural crossroads: when the Summer of Love became the Summer of Fear.
