Daniel Gill, a police detective in a sleepy little Maryland town is not retired, at least not until November, but suddenly there is a rash of irrational murders. Gill has the case of his life at the twilight of his career but he still remains as his town was -- sleepy. His personal life is not bad as far as he is concerned, and could not be better as far as his loving wife is concerned despite their lack of offspring (or because of it)? To his joy and his wife's dismay the detective brings home a young girl, the innocent product of one of his arrests. Little Wendy brings more than a little spice to the life of a happily? married couple in their sixties.
Stolen Lives contains doses of humor but it is not about bungling cops and does not contain any gore. It takes a cross section of the relationship between a bread winning family man and his devoted wife before and after a child is born without the aid of a pregnancy. The African American couple have a mature, serious relationship in which they still enjoy sex and fight without physical violence.
