Mappa Mundi - a yarn

Britain. 1300 and something. Most people dressing in sacks – others living in castles. Geese everywhere. Very muddy.

When itinerant sole trader and confidence man ‘Cuthbert the Astrologer’ unexpectedly loses his entire business, he and his young assistant Simon decide upon a career change.

After seeing for the first time a Mappa Mundi – a map of the known world – their fortune is assured. Well, Cuthbert’s is, at least.

He disposes of Simon and finds employment as court cartographer to an isolated court. He makes them the map they want – a map which bears no resemblance to reality.

The question is: Can he get away with it?

A comic novella about the nature of truth. Is everything a matter of opinion?

A satire in the tradition of Swift, Orwell and ÄŒapek.
