Our Island War

"I decided to keep a holiday diary. Then my world changed. It tends to when your home is invaded by a foreign army. So I've written things down as best I can and what started life as a diary has become my account of a war, our island war. It's not about guns and ammo. It's about us, our relationships, our choices and a lot about luck. There are guns of course. After all, there is an army here so they'd be difficult to avoid. Anyway, this is my story and it's been pretty life changing."



When four friends decide to take a holiday, little do they realise the importance of their decision.

After seeing ships and military aircraft from an isolated English beach, they return home to find their families gone, towns and villages deserted, and foreign soldiers patrolling the countryside.

The friends need to adapt quickly, just to survive. They become guerrillas, initially naive but eventually hatching an audacious plot to strike at the enemy’s heart. Can four teenagers really make a difference when pitted against an invading army?

Harry is a music-loving eighteen year old. This is his coming of age, a tale of courage, love and friendship. Set in the present day but where the familiar has become dangerous.


This story contains some adult themes and is unsuitable for children.
